  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1-2 tbsp red food coloring

Instructions:

Warm up your oven to 350F 175C and put cupcake liners in a muffin tin

To make the dough, put the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and sift them together

Mix the egg, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, buttermilk, and flour together

Mix the batter well until it's smooth

Put the hot water into the batter and mix it well with a spoon

Fill each cupcake liner about two thirds of the way to the top with batter

After the oven is hot, bake the cupcakes for 18 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean

On a wire rack, take the cupcakes out of the oven and let them cool all the way down

Get the frosting ready while the cupcakes cool

The unsalted butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract should all be mixed together in a bowl until the mixture is smooth and creamy

To get the shade of red you want for your frosting, add red food coloring

Mix until the color is the same all over

When the cupcakes are completely cool, use a lot of red velvet frosting to cover them

Add any toppings you want, like sprinkles

Take a bite of your tasty chocolate cupcakes with red velvet frosting
